VPN.asia Security

70%

The most crucial aspect of whether or not a VPN offers good online privacy and security is the level of encryption used. VPN.asia employs military-grade encryption, which is the highest standard of encryption available.

There are many security protocol options available, and you can alternate between these in the VPN's app to adjust the security strength and speed of your connection. The tunneling protocols on offer include PPTP and OpenVPN, IKEv2, L2TP/IPSec in the settings menu.

We'd suggest using the IKEv2 or OpenVPN protocol for a super-secure VPN connection and PPTP if a speedy connection is more important to you than security.

In the VPN client and app's settings menu on the VPN app, users can also select the Stealth protocol. This protocol helps users to bypass Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), which sites use to detect VPN usage and block people. This is a great feature and something we're pleased to see the VPN service offer.

A kill switch is a vital component of a VPN service, so we were pleased to see that VPN.asia offers a kill switch in the Windows app. As well as this, there is DNS leak protection, which is essential if you want to keep your online activity private.

VPN.asia offers a no-logs policy, claiming in its privacy policy that it doesn't "collect or log any traffic or use of its Virtual Private Network service." However, the provider does log personal information such as names, login credentials, email addresses, and payment methods upon sign up. This is common practice in the VPN industry, so it does not concern us too much. However, it would be great to see the no-logs policy audited.

VPN.asia Features

60%

In terms of additional features, the VPN service offers a decent selection of good tools and things to make your VPN experience better. Firstly, while the provider only offers a small VPN server network of 40+ servers across 32 countries, these are based in some excellent server locations.

However, while there are VPN servers in North America, Europe, and Asia, but it would be great to see more server location options in South America and Central America. At the moment, there is only server coverage in Brazil.

There is some confusion as to how many simultaneous connections a single subscription offers. The provider states on its website that you can protect all devices. In fact, there are ten simultaneous connections per plan, but covered in this is the ability to protect mobile devices, desktops, and even your wireless router.

The VPN software can be used on several devices. There are easy-to-use clients for Windows, and Mac OS, and the user-friendly desktop client comes with many configurable settings. You can also manually configure the VPN to Linux and adjust port settings. Assuming your router operates compatible firmware, such as DD-WRT, then you'll also be able to manually configure the VPN to your wi-fi router.

A great thing about VPN.asia that many other rival providers fail to offer is the fact that users can sign up (without paying anything) and see all the features on offer in the panel. This is a great way to view all the VPN's features and see whether or not it is a good option for you.

The VPN can unblock Netflix, although it struggles on other streaming sites such as BBC iPlayer. Fortunately, you can use the VPN on a streaming media console such as Amazon Firestick TV.

Finally, we believe that customer support is always a great indication of whether or not a service is worth purchasing. If a VPN service cares about customers, then it is likely it will put effort into the features on offer.

We tested out the support on offer and can confirm that VPN.asia offers excellent customer support. There is 24/7 live chat support available on the website. When we contacted customer support representatives via the customer support, we received a quick response from a friendly and polite operator.

Moreover, there is a support page that is slightly basic but does offer setup tutorials on how to set up the VPN on various systems. You can also submit a support ticket.

VPN.asia explicitly states in its privacy policy that it does not log any data related to VPN usage. However, it does collect necessary data for account setup and data related to payment methods. Does VPN.asia Have a Large Server Network?

At the moment, VPN.asia is a moderately small server network. There are just over 40 servers in around 30+ countries. While there are limited server location options, the provider is a good choice if you want to use North American or Asian IP addresses and access content in these countries.

Is VPN.asia a Fast VPN Service?

We ran some speed tests to see whether VPN.asia offers slow speeds or fast speeds. When connected to a server location close to our physical site, we experienced a decent download speed. However, when we ran a speed test when we connected to a server further away, we experienced very slow speeds.

It seems that the small number of servers may be a factor in the slower than average speeds we experienced during the speed test, as there may be higher server loads. However, assuming you don’t connect to a server too far away or one that is full of other VPN users, you should experience a relatively good connection speed, but perhaps not the fastest VPN connection.

Yes, VPN.asia is a great VPN for unblocking Netflix in many countries, including the US. However, we experienced a few difficulties trying to bypass restrictions on streaming sites like BBC iPlayer and Amazon Prime Video.

Yes, you can torrent across the entire network. While VPN.asia is not the best VPN for torrenting (that prize goes to Private Internet Access), it is excellent that P2P networking is permitted on the servers.
