Betterspot is a VPN router solution that allows you to protect all devices on your home network. Set up is incredibly easy since you simply plug in the Betterspot VPN device to your cable router in order to protect all systems connected to the wireless network.

There are various subscriptions available, including a one-off purchase and monthly and annual plans. The Betterspot VPN router is pricey, which may be off-putting to some users who want something cheaper that is just as effective.

Although many assume that a VPN router offers unlimited simultaneous, that isn't quite the case with Betterspot. However, although there is a limit to the number of devices you can connect to the router, this is set at a high number of 15, which is very generous.

Overall, Betterspot is a great solution for internet users who want to protect all of their family's devices with one easy tool. However, it's best to be completely sure that the VPN router is for you since there is no money-back guarantee that offers users a refund.

Betterspot VPN Security

55%

If you decide to use the Betterspot VPN router to secure all of your home devices, then you want to be sure that the browsing data of each user will be secure. Fortunately, Betterspot encrypts all data on connected devices. This means your internet browsing will remain private at all times under a solid security layer, protecting you from trackers, marketers, and identity thieves online, two threats that are increasing by the day.

Interestingly enough, Betterspot doesn't employ commonly used protocols such as OpenVPN and WireGuard. Instead, it uses the relatively unknown Hexatech protocol, which claims to create a secure VPN connection within a couple of milliseconds, which is extremely fast.

There are a couple of operating modes available, and users can swiftly switch between these. The first is the classic VPN connection, and the second is the option to route your data via the Tor network.

Unlike other VPN providers that enable users to send their data via a VPN tunnel and then through the Tor network, Betterspot only offers users the option of one or the other. However, this may be beneficial; sometimes VPNs can cause a slow internet connection, so switching to the Tor mode may solve this issue.

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to Betterspot, and, thankfully, the service doesn't log any sensitive user data. Although this policy has not been independently audited, we're inclined to believe the company since a no-logs policy is part and parcel of most VPN services.

Betterspot VPN Features

45%

One of the most appealing features of the Betterspot VPN router is its usability. The router itself is compact and portable, meaning you can take it from place to place, giving yourself internet security and privacy wherever you go.

Setting up the Betterspot VPN router is easy since you simply need to connect it to your router via an Ethernet cable. Once it is connected to your router, you'll be able to find the VPN router on your network and connect your device to it.

A great thing about the Betterspot VPN router is that it has a USB port meaning you can connect it to your PC if you wish to do so. This is a great option for users who travel frequently and may sometimes only require encryption for their computer or laptop device.

Betterspot works with all operating platforms, which is great news for people who have many IoT objects at home. You can connect your tablet, smartphone, computer, and even your Bluetooth speaker and security cameras to the Betterspot VPN router.

Although there is a limit to the number of devices you can connect to the VPN router, this is set at 15, which is plenty. Compared to some VPN providers like ExpressVPN, which only offers 5 simultaneous connections, Betterspot performs extremely well. However, it falls short of being able to protect an unlimited number of devices, as Surfshark can do.

Performance-wise, Betterspot is good and provided us with some decent speeds. However, we weren't super impressed with its unblocking capabilities. Although the Betterspot VPN router claims to bypass restrictions, enabling users to access video streaming sites like Netflix, we were unable to get past the VPN firewall on the UK version of Netflix.

Moreover, there are limited configuration options with Betterspot. Although you can switch servers and change modes, there are not many other features that users can adjust to improve their VPN experience.

The number of servers that Betterspot provides access to is undisclosed, but it offers server locations in several countries, including Australia, Canada, Germany, the UK, and the US. You can connect to a server location in the app and be surfing the web with an IP address from another country within minutes.

How Much is Betterspot?

Depending on the subscription you choose, the price of the Betterspot VPN router will vary.

The basic plan, which includes the Betterspot VPN router plus access to the Tor network and a month free of the Betternet Premium service, will cost $100. This is good but does not provide you with access to a rolling VPN contract.

To enjoy access to the VPN router for 1 year, you’ll pay $130. This premium service includes all the same products as in the basic plan, but you’ll have access to the VPN for an entire year with the premium account.

There is also a lifetime service, which provides users with lifetime access to the Betternet VPN router. This costs $300, and there are no limits to the length of time you’ll have access to Betternet VPN for. Although this may seem like a great deal, we are always cautious in recommending lifetime subscriptions to customers as the company could go under, taking customer money with it.

Is Betterspot Worth it?

Overall, the Betterspot VPN router is worth buying if you have the money to spare. It is an expensive product, and therefore we don’t recommend it unless you have some extra cash.

The best thing about Betterspot is that it easily protects all of your devices without the need to install an app on each and every operating system in your household. However, there are some downsides to the service. For one thing, there is a limited server location selection. Secondly, it lacks some extra security features such as a kill switch and doesn’t provide subscribers with many customization options.
